Professor Datin Dr Zahurin Mohamed

Professor Datin Zahurin Mohamed obtained her BSc and PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Dundee (UK), joined the University of Malaya as a tutor in 1979, and was promoted to Professor of Pharmacology in 2000.
She was the Head of the Department of Pharmacology for over 18 years. She was also appointed by the Minister of Education to be a representative of the University’s Senate to the University’s Board of Directors for 2 years until retirement.
Professor Datin Zahurin Mohamed had been a member of at least 7 committees at the national level including the National Committee for Clinical Research, chaired by the Director-General of Health.
Her expertise also extends to being a consultant for contract research in the form of Bioequivalence (BE) Studies for various generic drug manufacturers from 1999 and she completed over 32 consultancies.
She is presently appointed by the Minister of Health to be in the Scientific Review Panel Member for Phase 1 studies until 2023. She was appointed by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovations, to be a member of the National Bioethics Council (NBC) and presented the Keynote Address at its launch.
Following her retirement, Professor Datin Zahurin Mohamed was the business owner of a company called Shaliscare Nursing & Services (KL) Sdn Bhd which provides nursing services to private homes and hospitals. She is presently the business co-owner of Hang Seng Healthcare Sdn Bhd.
From 1 February 2022, Professor Datin Zahurin Mohamed was appointed as Chair to the Board of Governors of ICAN College.
